1949 Gibson SJ-200
SOLD
Figured maple back and sides, spruce top, 3-piece maple neck, bound rosewood fingerboard with pearl inlays. Single bound headstock, pearl Gibson logo and crown inlays. Sunburst finish to all sides, moustache bridge, bone nut and saddle, white plastic bridge pins, gold Kluson open-back tuners with plastic tulip buttons. Multi-layered SJ-200 binding and pickguard. White oval label visible through the soundhole. A small spot of capo rash is this guitar’s only flaw, and it’s an easy one to forget about!
The neck has a full and round carve, 1-11/16” nut width, and long 25.4” scale. It’s a remarkably comfortable guitar to play, especially considering the 17” wide body. The consummate strumming guitar, with lots of bottom end and richness and maple sparkle.
One of the finest post-war Gibson flat-tops we’ve offered for sale.
With period Lifton Brown and Pink hardshell case
