1962 White Amp - AKA Fender 5F2 Princeton
Fender built and marketed ‘White’ branded lap steel and amplifier sets from about 1957 to 1962. Named after Forrest White, Leo Fender’s long time right-hand-man, the White steels and amps were marketed to students until it became impractical to continue production due to how large a demand there was for higher-priced Fender-branded products. The White lap steel was essentially a Champ model with different cosmetics; the White amplifier was a tweed 5F2 Fender Princeton in a different cabinet with blue grill, grey tolex, and a blue leather handle.
This example of Fender’s White amplifier is 100% original and untouched but for a replacement Weber Alnico speaker (the original speaker has a tear in the cone but is included and is repairable). There isn’t a single changed part on this amplifier, including the original RCA and Sylvania tubes and the power cord, and it continues to function perfectly. Tone is out-of-this-world perfect tweed Princeton perfection, and apart from a bit of ungrounded plug hum the amp is amazing. In excellent condition, with original un-torn tube chart.
