2004 Callaham Lefty Tele

Bill Callaham is famous for his boutique-quality aftermarket Telecaster parts which are featured on this custom-made left-handed Tele-style guitar. With some serious early 50’s design inspiration, this guitar features a one-piece quartersawn maple neck with a deep C carve, medium/tall frets, 5-hole pickguard, and custom-made Lindy Frailin pickups. It’s among the best sounding Telecasters I can remember playing and has a heavenly feeling neck/fret combination that plays magically.

Shell pink nitrocellulose lacquer, Callaham lefty bridge and compensated saddles, Callaham control plate and heavy-knurled knobs, three-ply pickguard. A well-made guitar that was built to tight tolerances, this Callaham would be a great alternative to any Fender Custom Shop instrument.

Excellent setup and playability, frets play cleanly and responsively, and the pickups are lively, balanced and bold. Treble response is fat, neck pickup is full and clear. Wiring is cleanly done with modern circuitry. The guitar’s finish shows some dings along the lower edges and the Nitro clear coat has started to yellow, imparting a warm vintage look to the shell pink. The neck finish is thin with a rubbed-out feel and look to the barrel that’s reminiscent of a gunstock oil finish. It feels great and plays fast. The guitar weighs in at 8.2 lbs.
