1999 Tom Anderson Hollow Drop Top, Koa/Basswood

Tom Anderson began his career as a guitar builder in 1984 making necks and bodies in his home’s garage. Since those days, Anderson Guitarworks has become one of the most highly-regarded brands in the boutique electric guitar world.

Built in 1999, this S-style Hollow Drop Top features a beautiful Koa top over a hollow basswood body. The neck is made from hard rock maple with a Madagascar rosewood fingerboard. Sporting Anderson's own SA1R, SA1, and H2+ pickups in the neck, middle and bridge positions respectively, this instrument offers a wide array of tones that can be further manipulated with Anderson’s ‘Switcheroo’ system by way of the guitar’s four mini switches and parallel/series switching on the instrument’s circuit board.

The playability of this guitar is nothing short of brilliant. The neck carve is quite comfortable, measuring 1-11/16" wide at the nut, .823" deep at the first fret, and .892" deep at the 12th. Equipped with the Buzz Feiten tuning system, this instrument offers excellent intonation across the fingerboard. The pickups measure 5.54K (n), 5.57K (m), and 5.37K (b). 6-3/4 lbs.

It’s in excellent condition, with little evidence of it being nearly 25 years old other than a ¼” chipped finish ding on the treble horn’s edge. It’s been carefully set up in shop with 10-46 strings.
