A predecessor to Gibson's hugely popular ES-339, the ES-336 was the company's first attempt at creating a more compact and ergonomic version of their iconic ES-335 model. While the model shares a similar body to the ES-339, the 336 differed in that featured a body of carved mahogany with a solid maple top as opposed to the laminate construction typically used on Gibson semi-hollow guitars.
Another fine offering from Gibson Custom, this 2002 CS-336 is a beautifully crafted instrument with simple, yet elegant appointments. Boasting a comfortable and fast neck carve, along with an upgraded set of fantastic sounding Mojotone humbuckers, this Custom ES-336 is a joy to play and hear.
This well-loved guitar has seen countless hours of playtime as is evident through minor chips and dents throughout the instrument's finish and mild fretwear across the guitar's fingerboard. A previous owner was clearly quite fond of performing volume swells on the neck pickup as there is some notable wear around the neck volume control.
This 2002 Gibson Custom CS-336 is largely original apart from the upgraded humbucker pickups and replaced wiring harness which was likely rewired along with the pickup swap. The original nut has been replaced with one fabricated from graphite.
Scale length of 24.75". First fret depth of 0.798", twelfth fret depth of 0.904", with a 1-11/16" nut width. Pickup DC readings of 7.36K (N) and 8.14K (B). Weight of 6lbs 6oz.
With non-original hardshell case.
