One of the more highly regard guitars introduced during Gibson's Norlin-era, the ES-150D is a fully-hollow, double cutaway electric produced from 1969 into the late 1970s. Gibson's choice of name for the ES-150 was somewhat odd, as the Norlin-era model bears little to no resemblance to the original pre-war ES-150 or the early post-war model produced between 1946 and 1956. The guitar more so resembles the company's iconic ES-335 model; however, the ES-150 features a 3" body depth as opposed to the ES-335's 1-3/4" depth. Additionally, the ES-150D is built without the center block of the thinline models.
A lovely example of the mid-'70s Gibson ES-150, this 1974-build has a wonderfully clean Walnut finish with very little crazing or notable playwear. The guitar is completely original apart from an upgraded TonePros bridge. There is minimal wear to the original frets and the guitar plays beautifully across the fretboard.
Equipped with a pair of Patent Sticker T-Top humbuckers, this guitar offers a smooth, full-bodied, and dynamic response with slightly less top end than an early to mid '60s humbucker guitar would offer. While the guitar is shaped like an ES-335, the tonal response is more akin to that of an ES-175 due to the guitar's fully hollow construction and 3" body depth. Overall, it’s an exceptional sounding electric with a voice that lends itself towards jazz and blues.
Scale length of 24.75". First fret depth of 0.766", twelfth fret depth of 0.938", and a 1-9/16" nut width. Pickup DC readings of 8k (bridge) and 7.6k (neck). Weight of 6lbs 14oz.
With Original hardshell case.
