A predecessor to Gibson's hugely popular ES-339, the CS-336 was the company's first attempt at creating a more compact and ergonomic version of their iconic ES-335 model. While the model shares a similar body to the ES-339, the 336 differed in that featured a body of carved mahogany with a solid maple top as opposed to the laminate construction typically used on Gibson semi-hollow guitars.
A very well cared for, two-decade-old offering from Gibson Custom, this 2005 CS-336 is in excellent cosmetic condition. The guitar boasts a particularly attractive faded Sunburst finish over a heavily figured maple top, adding to its handsome looks. With nickel plating that is largely untarnished and little playwear to note, the overall presentation is quite impressive.
Equipped with a pair of Gibson's iconic '57 Classic pickups, this CS-336 offers a rich and dynamic tonal response that pays homage to the PAF humbuckers of the late 1950s. The medium C neck carve is quite comfortable, making for an enjoyable playing experience. The original frets are largely unworn and offer clean fretting across the fingerboard.
Scale length of 24-3/4", nut width of 1-11/16", 1st fret depth of 0.854", 9th fret depth of 0.917", weight of 6lbs 5oz. Pickup DC values of 7.8K in both bridge and neck positions.
With original hardshell case.
