Dan Roberts was previously the plant production manager for Gibson Acoustics and then spent 17 years at Santa Cruz Guitars where he built all of their archtops, designed most of their new models, built guitars and took care of their warranty repairs. Since opening his own shop in Bozeman, Montana, Dan has built for Eric Clapton, Joe Walsh, Ronnie Wood, Waddy Wachtel and many others.
The Minstrel is one of Roberts’ signature designs. Modelled after a late 40s Gibson LG-2, this particular Minstrel features mahogany back and sides and a spruce top cut from 100-year old reclaimed Sitka. The top is finished in a gorgeous sunburst and accented with a firestripe pickguard and aged white bindings.
Ebony fingerboard and brige, Gold EVO fretwire, ebony pins, bone nut and saddle. Nut width of 1-23/32”, 24.75” scale, string spacing of 2 3/16 at the saddle. The neck has a late-40’s feel with a medium depth C shaped carve. Neck depth at the 1st fret is .870"
In excellent condition with near-perfect finish and frets. The guitar could be called ‘mint’ but for a few very small chips along the headstock’s edges.
