Pisgah Banjo’s 11” Dobson became an instant staff favorite at first strum. Sonically, the combination of the 11-inch rim and the iconic Dobson tone ring hits the sweet spot for old-time clawhammer tone, and we dig it a lot. The Dobson tone ring injects a wonderful, sustained resonance and a vocal-like depth into the bass strings, while the 11" pot prevents the sound from getting muddy. It gives you a remarkably punchy, "plunky" vintage character, but with enough high-end sparkle and definition to cut through a jam and a healthy midrange to add character and fundamental presence.

The 11” Dobson Standard features a three-piece cherry neck with a traditional folk heel, a two-way adjustable truss rod, a 1-5/16” wide nut, and a 26.2” scale length. The neck is topped with a persimmon fingerboard that includes a frailing scoop and simple dot inlays, and a paddle headstock that’s dressed up with a quilted star overlay.

The pot is built with an 11-inch cherry rim that’s capped with walnut, and is fitted with an authentic, bell-shaped Dobson-style brass tone ring and Remo Renaissance head. All hardware is aged brass manufactured by Balsam Banjoworks, which includes an 18-notch tension hoop with traditional brackets and a No-Knot tailpiece.

A simply adorned USA-made banjo that offers incredible clawhammer tone, a comfortable neck carve, excellent build and finishing, and an ethically-designed manufacturing set up. There’s a lot to love.

With Pisgah-branded gig bag.
