1976 Larrivée Steel String
Built in Toronto exactly 50 years ago, this guitar offers the uniquely incredible tone early Larrivée steel string guitars are renowned for, first-rate playability thanks to a refret and subsequent set up in our shop, and attractive ‘player’ pricing thanks to a de-finishing of the guitar’s top.
Indian rosewood back and sides, German spruce top, L-sized (15.65” wide) body, Larrivée X bracing, 25.6” scale neck, and ebony fretboard and bridge. Crack-free but for two 1” long top cracks that are easy to miss. Original Grover tuners, nut, and all finish other than the top. The top has some kind of super-thin sealer coat on it, but that’s all. Perhaps the raw-spruce is the guitar’s secret sauce. It does sound particularly incredible.
This Larrivée is in great shape other than the top’s refinish, a touch of playwear where the pickguard would otherwise be, and a ding on the top’s upper bass bout. The neck has been reset in the past and the bridge reglued, but there are no other repairs.
1-3/4” nut, .791” thickness at the 1st fret, 2-1/8” spacing at the saddle.
With hardshell case.
