An exciting reimagining of a 1950s Telecaster, this 2023 Reverse '50s Tele from Fender's Custom Shop delivers unique functionality and aesthetics and a refreshing take on the company's classic design.
This Fender Custom Shop Telecaster takes its "Reverse" designation quite seriously. The guitar features a reverse angle Nocaster bridge, which orients the bridge pickup closer to the bass-side saddles, allowing for a tighter and more aggressive bass response along with meatier and thicker trebles. The control plate has been mounted in reverse, giving a player easier access to the volume knob. To top it off, the guitar features a black finish with a white guard, a near opposite to the classic black pickguard over a blond finish typical of an early '50s Telecaster.
Equipped with a pair of Custom Shop Hand-Wound '50-‘51 Blackguard pickups, this Telecaster delivers a thick, mid-forward response in the bridge position, with an added element of bite and clarity from the angle of the pickup. The neck pickup delivers a wonderfully warm and airy voice with excellent note separation. The guitar features Fender's "Modified '51 Nocaster Wiring," in which the bridge pickup is engaged in position 1, the neck pickup is engaged in position 2, and the neck pickup with a 10k resistor is engaged in position 3. Playability is excellent thanks to unworn frets, a fresh set-up, and a full neck carve that is nothing short of heavenly.
Two-piece select ash body. One-piece rift-sawn maple neck. Pickup DC values of 8.4k in the bridge and 7.3k in the neck. Scale length of 25.5". First fret depth of 0.947", twelfth fret depth of 1.028". Weight of 7lbs 3oz.
