Gibson's Florentine cutaway ES-125 models debuted at the beginning of 1960, replacing the slightly more upscale ES-225 variants. Available in both single and double pickup configurations, the ES-125TC and ES-125TDC models were quite successful for Gibson, selling well throughout the 1960s.

This 1966 ES-125TDC is a remarkably well-preserved vintage Gibson guitar. Its original Cherry Sunburst finish is in excellent condition and is largely unworn - the only signs of playwear are a handful of minor dents and a few small chips. Minimal finish crazing can be found throughout. An excuse-free instrument, this ES-125 is completely original and has never seen any repairs. The original frets play cleanly across the fingerboard, and the neck angle is excellent. 

With its two original and unmodified "dog-ear" P-90 pickups, this ES-125TDC is a spectacular sounding thinline with a wide tonal palette. The bridge pickup delivers a full and airy response that pushes the front end of an amplifier beautifully when the guitar’s volume is set at 10. It develops a clean, sparkly, and articulate voice as the volume knob is rolled back. The neck pickup on this guitar is incredibly special, offering thick, creamy tones with amazing sustain and depth. Whether it's rock, country, jazz, or a contemporary guitar tone you are after, there is a setting on this 125 to achieve it. 

While this ES-125 has the 1-9/16" nut-width typical of a post-1965 Gibson instrument, a deep neck carve with full shoulders offsets the leaner string spacing. It’s a comfortable neck carve that fills the hand but remains fast and effortless to play. We've set the guitar up in-house with action at 4-5/64ths at the 12th fret.
