An exciting player's grade Pre-CBS Fender, this 1964 Fender Jaguar offers incredible vibe and tone at an attractive price point. With a decades-old refinish to the neck and body and a handful of changed parts, this authentic 1964 Jaguar is an undeniably cool golden-era Fender instrument that can be had for less than a Custom Shop reissue.

This 1964 Jaguar is a fantastic sounding guitar. The replacement bridge pickup offers a rich and open response with excellent clarity and upper-midrange presence that allows it to sit well in a full-band mix. The original neck pickup delivers a warm and defined voice that complements the bridge pickup very well. Both are wonderfully touch sensitive and dynamic, making this a particularly emotive electric guitar. The two pickups are currently wired out-of-phase, providing access to some incredibly cool funk tones when both are engaged simultaneously. The guitar plays well with low original frets.

This Jaguar’s black finish against a celluloid-tortoise guard is an undeniably cool aesthetic. Lead circuit pot codes dated to the mid 1970s suggest the finish work on the guitar was completed some 50 years ago. The pickguard appears to be of a similar vintage, as it is certainly a later part than the guitar itself. Replaced tuners, strap buttons, and trem arm are the only other non-original parts. The neck pickup has been rewound by Tom Brantley. Tuners with wider posts were previously installed on the guitar and chipping around the tuner posts is visible underneath the overspray on the headstock. The Fender Jaguar decal appears to be original.

Pickup DC values of 9.8k in the bridge and 7.1k in the neck. Scale length of 24". First fret depth of 0.825", twelfth fret depth of 0.992". Nut width of 1-5/8". Weight of 9lbs 0oz.

With period hardshell case.
