Gibson's "Thinline" hollowbody electrics first appeared in 1955 as high profile guitarists began to express their desire for electric guitars with less depth. The success of the thin-bodied Byrdland, ES-350T and ES-225T prompted Gibson to expand their Thinline guitar model lineup shortly thereafter. The first thin-body variant of Gibson's ES-125 model was introduced towards the end of 1956, and quickly became a staple in the company's electric line.

This ES-125T is one of approximately 1200 to have shipped from Kalamazoo in 1958. An incredibly attractive instrument, this ES-125T boasts a beautiful and clean sunburst finish that is largely free of playwear. Light finish crazing and a handful of minor scratches, dents, and chips are the only signs of the instrument's age. Some deeper craze lines on the guitar's back may be the result of cracking in the top layer of maple laminate, but these do not extend through the back and do not pose any structural concerns. The original frets show very light wear and play well across the fingerboard. Replaced tuning machines and control knobs are the guitar's only flaws.

Sporting an exceptional-sounding P-90 pickup (7.8k), this 1958 Gibson ES-125T delivers rich and warm P-90 tones with excellent definition in the top end. The pickup pushes a tube amp nicely, making for an incredible blues guitar. The round and full late '50s neck carve is heavenly and adds to this guitar’s all-around amazing playing experience.

Scale length of 24.75". First fret depth of 0.893", ninth fret depth of 0.974". Nut width of 1-11/16". Weight of 5lbs 4oz.
