It’s a featherweight guitar with an amazing responsiveness to a light and medium fingerstyle approach, and it sounds equally (but differently) inspiring with new or aged strings. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\r\nA particularly clean and original example that has had its neck seamlessly reset by Folkway’s Mark Stutman, this Kel plays easily with low action, level and unworn original frets, and perfect neck relief. If you’ve been hunting around for a Kel Kroydon you’ve surely come to know how uncommon it is to find one that doesn’t suffer from excessive relief and subsequently poor playability. This example also has had no top bracing issues, which is another truly uncommon attribute. None of the top’s braces or bridge plate have ever needed reglueing or repair. The back braces are in excellent shape as well, with three brace ends cleanly reglued here at Folkway. The guitar is nearly crack free, the only exception being a largely insignificant repaired 2” crack below the bridge. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\r\nThe original tuners look new, the original nut has never been removed, the bridge is original and unmodified including the original saddle and bridge pins, and original finish is intact throughout. There is a touch of pickwear on the top, adjacent to the high E string, and some minor scratches on the back and sides as our photos clearly show. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\r\nContemporary-feeling low-C rounded neck carve with 1-3\/4” nut width, 24.75” scale, 2-3\/8” string spread at the bridge. The guitar is set up with a custom set of 12-50 strings and an action of 5-6 64ths at the body joint. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\r\nA K\u0026amp;K Trinity Solo pickup has been installed (in our shop), and a strap button added to the heel. The Trinity Solo pickup combines K\u0026amp;K Pure bridge plate transducers and an internal condenser microphone and is wired to a passive stereo endpin jack. There are no batteries on board, and no modification to the guitar apart from the endpin hole enlargement.
