1934-gibson-l-00-3951
1934 Gibson L-00
With a late 1934 FON, this L-00 has a medium-light build and a slightly-more-rounded V neck carve than later guitars, and features the reddish dark sunburst and Grover ‘open-book’ tuners that we associate with guitars built in ’35. Less brash than most, this L-00 has a rounded tone that’s balanced and dark. Treble response is full and meaty, and the basses are nicely open.

Crack-free top with original full-height bridge and bridge plate. Recent neck reset and bridge plate repairs done elsewhere, a few reglued sections of bracing, one replaced finger-brace and added side dots. The repairwork is clean and well done. Since arriving here at Folkway the guitar has been refretted and a new aged bone saddle has been installed. Original nut, tuners, bridgepins and finish. The headstock finish shows sticker-damage from removed stars that formed the letter E, and the body finish has areas of lacquer flake and some ancient sweat-damage. There are a number of ancient minor back cracks that have all been glued, a few of which appear to have been done by Gibson in ’34 before the guitar was finished. That’s not too uncommon.

Rounded V neck carve with 1-3/4” nut width. 24.75” scale, 2-3/8” string spread as the bridge. Action set at 5-6 64ths with regular light gauge strings.

With hardshell case

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0979/3660/5550/files/1595538979861934GibsonL00-0720-2Main.jpg?v=1790968889
