1953-martin-d-28-2777
1953 Martin D-28
An exceptional sounding D-28, this Red Spruce topped D-28 has a tone that only other '53s offer. Straight braces, Red spruce, Brazilian rosewood, hide glue, and a T-bar neck support combine to make this one of the louder D-28s you'll play, and one with exceptional clarity, focus, power, and headroom.

A true 'Player' guitar -- but for the right reasons. You won't find an oversized bridge or plate on this guitar, you won't find any bracing issues or repairs either. In fact, the guitar looks a lot like a perfect D-28 under the hood.

Its top shows no repairs other than a pair of very small cracks (one at the pickguard, and the other near the edge of the bass-side lower bout). The bridge and plate are original and in excellent condition, and there are NO brace repairs of any kind. The back is also crack-free and without issue. There are a pair of repaired side cracks on the treble side, none on the bass, and the neck is also crack-free. The original finish is well worn, and has been over-brushed with lacquer. It's not thick and can't be having much --if any - effect on tone, but is noticeable; particularly on the headstock -- and that's what's brought the pricing down. Thankfully all the important structural details are without any issues.

The guitar has had a neck reset and refret, the tuners have been replaced with Waverlys, and the bone nut and saddle are new. The neck angle is excellent, and playability is spot on. The guitar is set up with mediums, has perfect relief, and a full saddle height. It's a joy to play.

Here's a perfect way to get all the tone a 'Mystery' 1953 D-28 is famous for, but without the price tag.

With 1930's Hardshell case.

Click HERE for our hi-def video feature of this D-28

Shipping into the USA?

Sending this guitar to a US address is easy to do, and there are no import fees, taxes, or duties to pay when it arrives.
