Prior to Tony Rice, the guitar was owned by Clarence White, who found it in disrepair in 1959, its soundhole already whittled away and with no fretboard. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\r\nThe Atikin White Rice features a Sitka spruce top with scalloped red spruce braces, a 4-11\/16” wide soundhole, and a dotless, bound fretboard that looks similar to the one on the original White\/Rice D-28. The back and sides are Indian rosewood and feature zigzag backstrip and aged white bindings. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\r\nSet up with medium strings, the guitar is bold and powerful, offering excellent balance, sustain, and clarity – all perfect for flatpicking.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\r\nThis example was built in 2025 and, although it presents perfectly (and we’re an Atkin dealer), is in fact a pre-owned guitar.
