The Essential D is something A-kin to a Pre-War D-18, complete with scalloped, forward shifted X bracing, tortoise bindings, ebony fretboard and bridge, but built with a baked Sitka spruce top rather than red spruce. The bracing on this example is also red spruce, which helps impart some extra dryness and snap.

The Essential D is a powerful and muscular mahogany dreadnought with plenty of headroom, strong bass response, and a treble response that will make any flatpicker smile.
