martin-d-21-special-discontinued-spec-3177
Martin D-21 Special (discontinued spec)
With a limited production of 300 guitars, the Martin D-21 Special is sadly a rare guitar here in Canada. A total of 24 were allotted for all of Canada, and only 6 ended up here in Ontario. It's a really well thought-out, great sounding, and very attractive dreadnought that's designed to harken the 1960's Martin D-21's looks. But with forward shifted scalloped bracing and a 1-3/4” nut width high performance taper neck the guitar offers the best of today's Martin dreadnought tone and feel.

Indian rosewood back and sides, Sitka top, black binding and bevelled-edge pickguard, gloss lacquer natural finish. Vintage mid-1960s Style 21 trim, which combined the Style 18 rosette, purflings and bindings, and a style 28 checkerboard back strip. Rosewood fingerboard and bridge, bone nut and saddle, vintage old-style headstock logo and open-geared tuners.

The guitar's neck has a very comfortable oval C carve with a nut width of 1-3/4”. Bridge pin spacing is just shy of 2-3/16”.

With its forward-shifted scalloped bracing and rosewood back and sides, the guitar has plenty of the power, punch, and bass presence we're all wanting in a Martin dreadnought. Trebles are round and balanced, and the guitar is an excellent flatpicker.

With Geib style case.

C.F.
