2017 Collings D2H-T Torrefied

The Collings D2H Traditional is consistently among our most popular Dreadnought models thanks to its incredible tone and power and its perfectly carved vintage-inspired neck. This very gently used example features a torrefied Sitka top for a dry, woody, and dark response and great looks. The caramel colored spruce has an aged-to-perfection appearance and a voice to match. It's a loud and strong sounding guitar that's at home under a hard right hand attack, and it excels at single note melody and rhythmic flatpicking.

Indian rosewood back and sides and Sitka spruce top, wooden purflings and rosette, ivoroid bindings, zigzag back strip, bevelled tortoise pickguard and Waverly tuners. The neck features a 30's carve and taper, with a 1-3/4” nut, rounded back that transitions to a softened V by the 7th fret, and Collings' standard compound radius fingerboard. Vintage through-cut saddle bridge with a 1930's spec 2-5/16” string spread. The unique traditional-series neck carve and construction is half of the reason for the T-series tonal differences from a standard Collings model.

Under the hood you'll find Collings' Custom Traditional Series pre-war scalloped X-bracing (without tongue brace), and protein-glue construction; and the guitar is finished in an extra-thin Nitro lacquer.

This example shows a tiny bit of playwear south of the pickguard and the lightest of fine scratches here and there to its finish and an after-market strap button (installed by us). It was built prior to Bill Collings’ passing and has a label that bears his signature. Set-up recently here at Folkway.

Accompanied by its original Collings Traditional handmade hardshell case. This guitar can also be paired with a Hiscox dreadnought case for a reduced sale price of $5395.
