1959 Gretsch 6124 Anniversary
Gretsch introduced its single pickup 6124 Anniversary model in 1958 in celebration of the company’s 75th birthday, along with the two-pickup 6117. These early anniversary models differ from those built from 1960 onward in that they feature Trestle bracing and PAF Filter’Tron humbuckers, rather than the weaker tone-bar bracing and less exciting HiLo’Tron single coils that followed. The tone difference is nothing short of remarkable, and the PAF Anniversary models are stellar.
This example is completely original and in excellent condition. No binding issues, the original frets play well and show little wear, original hardware is all intact and pretty much perfect, and the electronics are unmodified. The PAF Filter’Tron has a DC read-out of 3.9 kOhm. Original finish is clean and free of any significant wear.
