Collings D2H Traditional

A triumph of modern guitar construction, the Collings D2H-T is an amazingly loud and powerful dreadnought with incredible focus, clarity, headroom and strength. The guitar's ability to cut through the heavy traffic of a loud jam is unparalleled among dreadnoughts, and it's equally well suited for solo melodic flatpicking. Many Dreadnought players are familiar with the shortcoming of the design – the trade-off of bass presence for treble strength; and so many of us are on a seemingly endless hunt for a D-28 style guitar that offers thicker and stronger treble string response without going into debt to do it. The Collings D2H Traditional nails it.

This example is built with Indian rosewood back and sides and Sitka spruce top. It features wooden purflings and rosette, ivoroid bindings, zigzag back strip, beveled tortoise pickguard and Waverly tuners. The neck is shaped with a 30's carve and taper, offering a 1-3/4” nut, rounded back that transitions to a softened V by the 7th fret, and Collings' standard compound radius fingerboard. Vintage through-cut saddle bridge with a 1930's spec 2-5/16” string spread. The unique traditional-series neck carve and is a good part of the reason for the T-series tonal differences. The other reasons a Traditional sounds different that a standard D2H are the model’s custom Traditional Series pre-war scalloped X-bracing (without tongue brace), and the extra-thin Nitro lacquer finish.

Between the guitar's incredible tone and volume, its heavenly neck carve and vintage string spacing there's not much this Collings D2H-T leaves us wanting.
