Martin OM-42
Among Martin's most dressed-up models is the OM-42, a spruce and rosewood long-scale OM with a Style 45 compliment of pearl detailing to its top. Martin built its first OM-42's in the early 1930's, but dropped the model from its lineup for the better part of three generations after completing only two guitars. Today's OM-42 is styled after those original instruments.
The OM-42 features tonewoods graded for their superior grain, stiffness, and looks. Sitka spruce top is fitted with scalloped braces, pearl rosette, 30's style belly bridge with drop-in saddle and pearl inlaid wings, and a bevelled tortoise-celluloid pickguard. The guitar's Indian rosewood back has a style 45 back strip, and the body is bound in off-white celluloid. High gloss mahogany neck with bound ebony fingerboard, Style 45 snowflake inlays, and vertical C.F. Martin inlay in the headstock. Bone nut and saddle, vintage-style open-gear tuners in gold. 25.4” scale, 1-3/4” nut width.
