2011 Fender AVRI '69 Telecaster Thinline

The Fender Telecaster Thinline was introduced in 1969, and featured a partially chambered lightweight body, bass-side F hole, a new pickguard design. The pickups were standard Telecaster single coils, with controls mounted on the pickguard. The new Thinline was well received thanks to its light weight and resonant body. The guitar was redesigned with Fender’s Wide Range humbuckers in ’72.

This example is a USA-made American Vintage ReIssue, built in 2011. It’s a super-resonant, light, and responsive guitar with excellent tone. The neck is a transplant from an AVRI ’52 Tele, with vintage frets, logo, tuners, and string tree, and the original pearloid pickguard was swapped with the good looking 4-ply tortoise guard that’s shown in these photos. The original pickguard is in the case, along with all of the other factory documents, tags, etc. The pickups appear to be high-end vintage-style replacements, but are unmarked. They appear to be 50’s style Telecaster repros, complete with 50’s wrap wire, cloth leads, and black bobbins, and they sound excellent. The guitar is in very fine condition throughout, with only a few dings on the body, and small spot of worn finish adjacent to the bridge.

Set-up in shop, this Thinline Tele plays beautifully and cleanly.
