2014 Collings MTO Gloss Blacktop
We custom-ordered this Collings MT-O, with jet-black gloss lacquered top and ivoroid top binding in 2016 and are delighted to have it back in the store. We remember how stunning it was then, and yes, it's still just as appealing.
The instrument has the classic warmth of an oval-hole A, but with the power and projection you'd expect of a Collings. It's a much thicker and darker-toned instrument than an F-holed mandolin and would certainly appeal to instrumentalists of all musical leanings.
Sunburst finished figured maple back, sides, and neck; ebony headstock overlay, bridge and radiused fretboard, bone nut, cast nickel-plated tailpiece and nickel-finished tuners with ivoroid buttons. X braced spruce top with bound oval soundhole. 1-3/16" width at the nut, 13-7/8" scale.
It is in perfect condition and shows almost no evidence of ever having been played. Perfectly set up, strung with J-74.
