1961 Gibson Melody Maker

The single-cut Gibson Melody Maker was offered from 1959 to early 1961 and marketed as Gibson’s new budget model in the solid-body lineup. It features the same body as the Les Paul Junior but is thinner in depth and is built with pickguard mounted single-coil pickup with volume and tone controls.

This example is about as clean and original as we’d be likely to find. It’s completely unmodified, shows very little playwear, and comes with its original Gibson-badged alligator chipboard case. If you want the nicest single-cut Melody Maker around, this is probably the one. 5.75 lbs, 1960 neck carve with medium depth and 1-11/16” nut width.
