2017 Paulino Bernabé Flamenco

Paulino Bernabé is the second generation namesake of Bernabé guitars out of Madrid, and has been constructing guitars since the late 1970s after apprenticing under his father. His instruments are highly regarded, and are lightly constructed and sonically complex.

This Flamenco was built in the traditional style and features Cypress back and sides, German spruce top with 5-fan bracing, French polish finish, and a cedar neck with ebony fingerboard. The scale is 660mm, nut width is 50.5mm, and string spread at the bridge is 56.5mm.

The headstock overlay, bridge, and bindings are dark Macacauba, with tastefully accented purflings throughout. The tuners are by Fustero.

The guitar is in excellent condition and is set-up properly for Flamenco. There is a small area of scratching on the treble side of the guitar, and minor fingernail wear beyond the lower edge of the top’s treble-side golpeador.

A very open, immediate, and responsive Flamenco with excellent balance and power in all fingerboard positions. It is loud and present and offers excellent power and projection.

With original Bernabé documentation and Hiscox case.
