Taylor’s new 514ce Urban Ironbark features back and sides of red ironbark sourced responsibly in California through the company’s Urban Woods Initiative. This tonewood is relatively new to guitar building, and offers a muscular and balanced tone that’s both sweet and complex. Paired with a torrefied Sitka top, V-Class bracing, Taylor’s Grand Auditorium body, and a gorgeous edgeburst finish that highlights the Ironbark’s reddish hues, the 514ce’s Urban Ironbark looks and sounds like a tonewood that should have been considered decades back!
The 514ce is a tastefully appointed guitar with understated simplicity and appealing subtlety. If features tortoise bindings and pickguard, maple purflings of varied thickness, acrylic “Aerial” inlays, pearl single-ring rosette, ebony fingerboard and bridge, and ES2 pickup.
The neck scale is 25.5” and the nut width is 1-3/4”.
