2008 Gretsch G6199 “Billy-Bo” Silver Phoenix
Serial #JT0853389. The G6199 "Billy-Bo" Silver Phoenix is what happens when you lock Bo Diddley, Billy Gibbons and the Gretsch design team in a room together. ZZ Top guitar legend Billy Gibbons was given one of Bo Diddley's original 1959 creations, but felt the guitar was too precious to tour with and commissioned Gretsch's design team the challenge of building a modernized version of the guitar. The Silver Phoenix is the extra-souped up version of the 6199, and was only available in 2008 as a part of Gretsch's 125th Anniversary celebration.
The guitar features TV Jones Powertron plus pickups, locking Sperzel tuners, pinned bridge and Bigsby vibrato. Finished in black and adorned with silver sparkle binding, it's one spiffy looking machine. 1-11/16" nut width, 24-1/2" scale length and in-shop setup. Offered in "as new" condition with all original documentation.
Optional foot-long beard and "Spinz" strap available separately.
