2010 Martin HD-16R Adirondack
Serial # 1432658. The super-charged 16 series bluegrass powerhouse is the perfect choice for a flat-picker looking to get into an Adirondack spruce topped, Vintage-spec'ed Martin Dreadnought without dropping big bucks. Like the much-higher-priced HD-28V, the HD-16R Adirondack features a Red spruce top with scalloped braces, Indian rosewood back and sides, modified V neck profile and wider 1-3/4" nutwidth; beveled-edge tortoise-plastic pickguard, herringbone purflings, zig-zag back strip, ivoroid bindings, and a vintage-toned top finish. Vintage style diamonds and squares pearl fingerboard inlays and red-eye bridge pins finish things off tastefully. The bridge and fingerboard are Macassar ebony, and the style 28 neck is carved from Spanish cedar.
This instrument looks like it's barely been played over the past few years, and is in excellent condition. The guitar sounds just like a rosewood dread should -- with a big open bottom end, lots of volume, and big headroom. It plays perfectly, too, set up with medium strings and bluegrass action. A professionally installed Fishman Matrix Infinity pickup has the guitar plug-and-play ready as well.
With original hard shell case
