Collings D2HA Traditional

The Collings D2HA-T is an amazingly loud and powerful dreadnought with incredible focus, clarity, headroom and strength. The guitar's ability to cut through the heavy traffic of a loud jam is unparalleled among dreadnoughts, and it's equally well suited for solo melodic flatpicking. Many Dreadnought players are familiar with the shortcoming of the D shaped design – a trade-off of bass presence for treble strength - and so many of us are on a seemingly endless hunt for a D-28 style guitar that offers thicker and stronger treble string response without compromising bass response to do it. The Collings D2H Traditional nails it.

This example is built with Indian rosewood back and sides and Adirondack red spruce top, and features wooden purflings and rosette, ivoroid bindings, zigzag back strip, bevelled tortoise pickguard and Waverly tuners. The neck features a 30's carve and taper, with a 1-3/4” nut, rounded back that transitions to a softened V by the 7th fret, and Collings' standard compound radius fingerboard. Vintage through-cut saddle bridge with a 1930's spec 2-5/16” string spread. The unique traditional-series neck carve and construction is half of the reason for the T-series tonal differences.

Under the hood you'll find Collings' Custom Traditional Series pre-war scalloped X-bracing (without tongue brace), and protein-glue construction; and the guitar is finished in an extra-thin Nitro lacquer. All that is the other half of the guitar's tone recipe.

Between the guitar's incredible tone and volume, its heavenly neck carve and vintage string spacing there's not much this Collings D2H-T leaves us wanting.
