Taylor 914ce
With its revolutionary V-Class bracing, incredibly beautiful tonewoods and lavish appointments, Taylor's 914ce is quite possibly the pinnacle of the last 45 years of guitar building at Taylor.
At the heart of the design is Taylor's V-Class top bracing, which bears very little resemblance to "traditional' flat-top acoustic guitar top bracing patterns, and more to do with archtop tone-bar style bracing. This bracing pattern was specifically designed to increase the top's side-to-side vibration during string movement and promote an increase in mid-range presence, fundamental strength, and sustain. The 914ce is a loud and powerful guitar, with much more richness through the midrange than previous versions, but without any sacrifice to the famous bottom end and treble sparkle that defines the Taylor experience.
Taylor bills their 900 series as their most luxurious Rosewood models, and adds weight to that claim with the specifications of the 914ce. To start, the guitar's top, fingerboard extension and soundhole are all bound with pearl and wood purflings. Beyond that, the bevelled ebony armrest adds stunning looks and comfortable ergonomics to the instrument and the balance of trim details are classy, refined, and exquisitely designed. From the Koa inlays that line the edges of the fingerboard and headstock face, to the rear headstock overlay and Gotoh high ratio 510 tuners, Taylor didn't miss a trick in designing this model.
