Martin OM-28 Modern Deluxe
Martin's OM-28 Modern Deluxe is the company's newest addition to the timeless OM-28 model lineup. The Modern deluxe combines modern materials and deluxe appointments as the name suggests, and is very much unlike anything that's yet come out of Nazareth.
Built with a VTS torrefied Sitka spruce top and animal hide glue construction, the Modern Deluxe has a definite vintage bent to its voice. The guitar is built to be light, and features a new Titanium double-action truss rod and a new neck carve that removes a lot of neck mass, adding to the guitar's airy and open voice. The bridge plate is designed to be small and extra stiff, and is a carbon fibre and maple sandwich that must help impart this guitar's characteristic quick response.
Cosmetically, the guitar is built with a few quite noticeable upgrades from the standard OM-28 model. It features maple bindings, gold EVO fretwire (which is extra hard too), a pearl vintage-style headstock logo, a maple and celluloid rosette, Martin's new "liquidmetal' bridge pins, and gold Waverly tuning machines.
The neck has a lovely slim vintage feel to it, much like some of the most nicely carved necks of the mid 1930's. it has a slightly V'd hull, 1-3/4” nut, and a string taper to 2-1/4” at the bridge.
It's a very lightly built instrument, and offers a quick, open, airy, and resonant tone with interesting compliment of overtones and a wonderfully responsive midrange.
