2008 Gibson Custom Les Paul R8
With its faded sunburst finish and plain maple top, fat neck carve, and hot Burstbucker pickups this Les Paul R8 by Gibson’s Custom Shop is a great recreation of a first-year ‘Burst’. This example is in great shape and plays well, with original frets that don’t show much use. It’s been set-up in shop with 10/46 strings.
The neck has a deep C carve, 1-11/16” nutwidth, and a depth of .906” at the 1st fret. 12th fret neck depth is 1.0”, and the scale is 24.75”. The pickups measure 7.6k and 8.1k, and the guitar weighs in at 9.75 lbs.
Apart from a replacement chrome jack plate the guitar is totally original. It’s in very clean shape overall but does show light belt wear on the back, and an area of worn finish on the neck heel that has been touched up. We can’t explain the reason for this finish damage (there’s no structural damage at all), and don’t have any great theories to offer. It’s mostly negligible, and if you’re not troubled by it, you’ll happily pocket about 10% of the value of an R8 because of it.
With original hardshell case, COA, and hangtags.
