1976 Gibson SG Standard
Gibson offered the SG Standard in Tobacco Sunburst from 1975 on, but Cherry finished SGs outnumber sunburst versions by a margin of 5 to 1. This is a moderately rare version of the mid/late 1970’s SG Standard, built with powerful, rich, and full sounding ‘Tarback’ humbuckers that push the front end of an amp really nicely.
Mahogany body and neck, bound rosewood fretboard, and chrome hardware. The guitar is in beautiful condition and shows very little wear. There are likely some minor modification to the guitar’s solder, but all the electronics are original, with pots dated late 1975.
Original frets show very little wear and play cleanly, the nut has never been removed, and the guitar has been set-up in our shop with 10-46 strings.
Pickup DC values are 5.2 and 7.4k (N/B). Neck depth at the 1st fret is .822”. Depth at the 12th fret it .953”. 1-19/32” nut width (that’s a bit less than 1-5/8, for the fractionally challenged). The guitar weighs 7.8 lbs.
With original hardshell case
