2006 Gibson Les Paul R8, Cherry SB
With its vibrant Cherry Sunburst finish over its plain maple top, this guitar has a distinctive look with just enough flash. Its neck carve is very comfortable and isn’t too much of a baseball bat, like some R8s can be, but has a lot of mass and sits in the hand wonderfully. The BurstBucker pickups are rich and robust with plenty of sustain giving this Les Paul a very big sound.
An almost completely original guitar that’s just been set-up in our shop, this R8 shows a little bit of playwear to the finish and frets, some aging on the pickup covers and nickel plated hardware, and the characteristic stain bleed on the fretboard binding that’s typical of the breed. The original nut has been replaced with a nicely made bone replacement, and the strap buttons are Dunlop straplocks.
The neck carve is deep and nicely rounded, with a 1st fret depth of .894” and a 1-11/16” nutwidth. Pickups measure 7.6k and 8.2k, and the guitar weighs in at 9.5 lbs.
With original hardshell case and hangtags.
