Fender introduced its Mandocaster 4-string electric mandolin in early 1956 with build specs that mirrored those of the Precision Bass, and a body that looks like a mini-Stratocaster. The specifications of the Mandocaster evolved alongside those other Fender models, and by the time this example was built, it featured a slab rosewood fretboard, sunburst-over-alder body, and a 4-ply tortoise celluloid pickguard.

This example is 100% original and in excellent condition. It shows well-below average playwear and is set-up well with frets that play cleanly. The original tuner buttons have shrunk but are still usable, and the bridge cover is still with the instrument. The pots date to the 19th week of 1959, and the pickup measures 5.4k. All solder is factory original. It sounds great and offers mandolin players some of the fun us guitarists enjoy all the time!
