Styled after the rarest of Gibson’s 1930s L-shaped models - the 14 fret rosewood Nick Lucas Special - the Iris Deep Body MS-00 features Indian rosewood back and sides, an Adirondack red spruce top, and a body depth that tapers from 4-1/2” to 4-3/16”. Like all of our MS models, the guitar is built with solid linings, a vintage-inspired neck carve, and a bridge string spread of about 2-5/16”. It’s an incredible guitar, with a heavenly feel, great looks, and – most importantly – beautiful tone.

A light and careful build, top-tier materials, a thin lacquer finish, and a well thought out blueprint are the ingredients to Iris’ famously good tone. This guitar offers all that and then some, with the note separation, power, and bass handling of rosewood; the snap, clarity, and dryness of red spruce; and the inviting warmth of a shorter 24.75” scale length. It’s a dark-but-defined guitar, that offers an enticing balance of fundamental presence and sweet overtone color.

The neck carve is full and round, much like a 50’s Gibson, but with a 1-3/4” nut. Neck thickness is .875” at the 1st fret and .915” at the 9th. Rosewood fretboard and bridge, bone nut and saddle, simplified headstock logo, Stew Mac Golden Age tuners with aged-white buttons. Firestripe pickguard, single-ring rosette, ivoroid bindings, and satin finish throughout.
