2018 Collings 290 DC

The Collings 290 DC is a late 50's inspired slab-body double-cut with a set-in neck, round and deep C shaped neck and a serious rock n’ roll pedigree. Based on one of the most iconic rock guitar designs, the 290DC is right at home on high-volume stages and plugged into screaming tube amps.

This is a custom ordered 290DC which we commissioned in 2018. It features a faded crimson finish, a pair of Lollar Firebird pickups, three-ply tortoise pickguard and truss rod cover, and ivoroid dots in the fretboard. We love the combination of the slab double-cut design and the brighter/tighter Firebird pickups; the guitar sounds like a combination of a Firebird and a LP Special, and offers the best of each of these models. Double-cut playability and ergonomics meets Firebird tone.

Long tenon neck joint, 24-7/8” scale, round C-shaped neck with 1-11/16” nut width and .850” depth at the 1st fret, bone nut, and rosewood fingerboard with a straight 12” radius. One-piece mahogany body, gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish, Nickel Kluson bridge and tailpiece, Gotoh tuners. The pickups measure 6.2k and 7.2k.

The guitar shows some light playwear to its finish, but very little wear to its frets. There are small dings on the body and neck and light pick scratching near the pickguard and pickups. No modifications or repairs. Set-up here with 10s.
