c.1939 Dobro Model 27 Squareneck
The regal-built Dobro Model 27 of the late 1930s was among the least expensive Dobros offered at the time, but still featured a Dobro headstock decal, fully bound body, and a poinsettia coverplate. This example is in excellent condition and is properly set up for lap-style playing.
Birch body with sunburst top finish, segmented F holes, and front and back binding. Original cone and spider bridge, original coverplate and tailpiece. Bound, radiused, and fretted fingerboard (strange to see a radiused board on a square neck), modern tuner and nut. 25” scale, 1-3/4” nut width. No repairs or issues.
A pretty sounding Dobro, with excellent volume, clarity, and projection. This example was built without a soundwell, which became quite common with the less expensive models at the end of the 1930s.
1930’s music books, slides and fingerpicks inside the case.
With modern hardshell case
