About as close as it gets to going back to the mid 1930s and playing a new Martin D-28, the D-28 Authentic 1937 VTS is Martin’s most authentic Authentic D-28 yet offered. The guitar features red spruce top and braces thermally aged with Martin’s VTS process and built to 1937 specs, Guatemalan rosewood back and sides, mid 1930s neck carve, steel T-bar neck reinforcement, ebony long-saddle bridge with ‘30s pin spacing, tucked bridge plate, and low-sheen nitrocellulose lacquer finish.

The playing experience is pure ‘30s Martin, with neck geometry and string spacing directly copied from a ’37 D-28, and a pre-aged, open, dark, and powerful voice that bears an incredible similarity to the original ‘30s D-28s we’ve had through the store over the years. There are many builders and manufacturers building Dreadnoughts inspired by the Pre-1939 D-28, but few of them sound as ‘right’ as Martin’s D-28 Authentic 1937.

Softened V neck with a healthy amount of roundness in the carve, a comfortably rolled fretboard edge, and 1-3/4 angle-bottomed nut. ‘30s Volute carve and logo style, Waverly tuners with butterbean buttons, Guatemalan rosewood overlay, and vintage gloss lacquer finish.

Scalloped, forward-shifted braces, ‘30s style side supports and back brace carve. Herringbone purflings, zigzag back strip, antique white bindings, under-finish celluloid pickguard. 25.4” scale, 2-5/16” bridge pin spacing. Medium strings, 5-7 action.

With ‘30s style hardshell case and hangtag.
