The classic mid ’60s Gibson slope shouldered dreadnought in crack-free, excellent condition. This one is a great looking example and offers the thumpy bottom end and rich strumming tone that these guitars are famous for.
A recent refret with period correct wire and fresh set up render the guitar’s playability excellent. The original finish is very clean and shows very little playwear. It is well crazed, as they all are, and shows one area of case-caused wear on the back of the neck’s treble side at the 9th fret. You won’t see or feel the worn spot when you’re playing unless you play left-handed.
The neck has the standard mid-1960s carve, with a round feel of medium depth and a 1-9/16” nut width. First fret depth measures .829, which gives the neck a feel that’s bigger than it actually measures. It’s quite comfortable and thickens up to about 1” by the 9th fret.
Spruce and mahogany, X braced, rosewood board and adjustable bridge, Kluson tuners… the usual stuff. A lovely guitar, all told.
With newer hardshell case
