A tastefully utilitarian variant of the iconic McCarty model, this Robben Ford signature Paul Reed Smith guitar was built to the specifications set by Ford himself. The legendary guitarist was heavily involved in the development process of this very limited signature model. With a total production of only 200 pieces worldwide, this model has become quite hard to come by and is sought after by players and collectors alike. Each guitar in the series features a backplate signed by Robben Ford.
The Robben Ford signature pickups (6.9K), which were developed specifically for this guitar, offer rich and full-bodied vintage-inspired humbucker tones while delivering the higher fidelity characteristics of a modern build. This model has been outfitted with a mini-switch that allows for coil splitting on both pickups, making for an incredibly versatile guitar that can hold its own in nearly any musical setting.
The round "Pattern" neck profile measures 0.865" deep at the first fret and 0.945" deep at the twelfth and has a 1-11/16" nut width. It is a particularly comfortable neck with a carve that’s reminiscent of the carve on the 1959 Les Paul Junior that recently passed through our store. With a 25" scale length, 10" fingerboard radius, and large fretwire, this model offers excellent playability. It's also a very comfortable weight at 7lbs 6oz, perfect for playing hours on end.
The guitar is in excellent condition and shows very little playwear. There are a few very tiny dings and light scratches that present themselves upon close inspection but otherwise presents beautifully. Set up here with 10-46 strings.
