A lovely sounding 1950s Martin 00-18 that presents really well and plays comfortably thanks to its smaller 00 body and ‘50s neck carve. It’s just about crack-free and remains completely original. The top has an unrepaired crack at the outer margin of the pickguard, there is a repaired and touched-up strap-button hole on the bass side of the neck heel, and a strap button has been installed low on the treble-side of the heel. There are no other repairs to report on.

The action measures on the high side of 5-7 64ths, which is fairly close to our shop spec. The neck has never been reset and the saddle is about as low as we’d want it. We’ve priced this guitar to accommodate the price of a reset if you’d like lower action. Some players will be perfectly happy with the current set-up and below-market price-tag. Those of you who want an old guitar with low fingerstyle action will want a reset.

Original frets remain very playable with minimal wear; the original nut has never been out, the original tuners work well. The original bridge has never been reglued or modified. The guitar’s finish is original throughout and shows below average playwear.

The neck has a typical 1950s Martin carve, with a V profile that’s so softened it’s almost a C. The nut is 1-21/32 wide, and the 1st fret neck depth is .815”. 9th fret neck depth is .975”, scale is 24.9” and string spread at the saddle is 2-5/32”.
