The post-war variant of the Gibson ES-125 redesigned in 1946 was their entry level electric Spanish guitar. The model featured a 16" wide full-depth hollow body of laminated mahogany outfitted with a newly designed P-90 pickup with six non-adjustable pole pieces. By 1950 laminated maple was substituted for the arched top and back, and the fixed pole-piece P-90 pickup was swapped for the adjustable pole piece variant we’re all familiar with today. The ES-125 was one of Gibson's best-selling electric guitars until being discontinued in 1970.

An exemplary ES-125 from the early '50s, this 1951 model remains in excellent condition and has matured beautifully over the last nearly 75 years. The original finish is in overall great condition, showing minimal signs of playwear and with typical crazing throughout. The guitar is completely original apart from replacement period-correct "single-line" Kluson tuners. We are particularly fond of the early "hot-cross-buns" Philips head screws used throughout this guitar.

The original "dog-ear" P-90 pickup offers a rich warm voice with excellent note separation. The full-hollow construction of the instrument imparts an airy quality to the electrified voice of the guitar, which combines perfectly with the full-bodied and powerful sonic characteristics of the P-90 pickup.

With a deep and rounded neck carve and original frets that play cleanly throughout the fingerboard, this 1951 Gibson ES-125 offers a wonderful playing experience that will leave you wanting more every time you are forced to put the instrument down.

Scale length of 24-3/4", 1st fret depth of 0.897", 12th fret depth of 1.008". Nut width of 1-11/16". Pickup DC value of 7.75k.
