Gibson's first double-cutaway thinline electrics were released in 1958, and were met with a favourable response from the get go. The success of those new semi-hollow models prompted Gibson to discontinue their fully-hollow single cutaway thinline ES-225 models, replacing them with the double cut-away ES-330 models.

Although it shared the same body as the semi-hollow humbucker-equipped ES-335, the ES-330 was a fully-hollow instrument equipped with P-90 pickups. Additionally, the ES-330 featured a 16th fret neck joint as opposed to the 19th fret neck joint of the ES-335. This new line of guitars was finished in the same vibrant Sunburst finish that graced the tops of the ES-335 and ES-345 models of the era. With the introduction of the Cherry Red ES-355 in 1959, the new and exciting red finish began to find its way onto other thinline models, with the first Cherry Red ES-330s shipping in 1960.

An incredible example of one of the earliest Cherry ES-330s to have been produced by Gibson, this 1960 ES-330TC is 1 of only 37 to have shipped that year. This guitar bears all the early ES-330 features, including dot fingerboard markers, "Mickey Mouse ear" horns, a black plastic P-90 cover, and a no-wire ABR bridge.

Boasting a particularly attractive Cherry finish that shows minimal signs of fading or playwear, this beautifully preserved ES-330TC is a sight to behold. A completely original guitar with no repair history to note, this 65-year-old Gibson is about as good as they come.

The single "dog-ear" P-90 (7.9K) positioned in the middle of the guitar offers warm and harmonically rich tones that can push the front end of an amp beautifully if desired. With the volume knob rolled back this ES-330 delivers an open and dynamic voice that is reminiscent of an acoustic guitar, with full-bodied sparkle and clear note separation. All in all, it's an excellent and versatile rhythm guitar that will work in just about any setting.

A lightweight guitar with an immensely comfortable rounded C neck carve, this ES-330TC offers an incredible playing experience. It’s difficult to put this one down. While the original frets show some light playwear south of the 5th fret, the guitar plays cleanly throughout the fretboard.

Neck depth of 0.827" at the first fret and 0.887" at the twelfth. 1-11/16" nut width. 5.75 lbs light. Pot codes dated to the 27th week of 1960 (1346027).

With hardshell case.
