A powerhouse guitar, the UK-built Atkin D37 Pre-War offers the thunderous volume and dry articulation that are the hallmarks of a great vintage dreadnought. With amazing headroom, well developed and supportive midrange, strong fundamental presence, and clean trebles, the Atkin D37 PreWar delivers everything most any flatpicker could want.

With gorgeous Madagascar rosewood back and sides, baked Adirondack spruce top and scalloped bracing, ebony fretboard and bridge, and bone nut and saddle, it’s no wonder this guitar sounds as good as it does. We’re finding it hard to believe that a new guitar can sound as mature as this one does.

The Atkin D37 PreWar features all the classic style 28 touches: Herringbone, slotted diamonds, zigzag backstrip, ivoroid bindings and nickel butterbean tuners. Breaking from PreWar Dreadnought tradition, the guitar features a 1-11/16” nut width, which, along with the 1930s style soft V carve, makes for an incredibly comfortable neck. Neck depth at the 1st fret is a chunky .870”, and string spread at the saddle measures just shy of 2-1/4”.

The D37 PreWar features a gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish that is lightly crazed but not mechanically aged.
