A lightly used Engelmann spruce-topped Collings OM1 Short Scale that has opened up well over 8 years. It is a lovely fingerstyle guitar and, like most Collings, is equally well suited to melodic flatpicking. Engelmann is known as a dynamic and responsive top wood that excites under a less powerful attack than Sitka or red spruce, which is why it’s the wood of choice for many fingerstyle players. Collings guitars are built for power and volume, and this design ethos blends well with Engelmann’s sonic characteristics in creating a strongly voiced but sensitive and dynamic flattop.
This example shows light playwear to its finish and fretboard. Small areas of pickwear are visible by the soundhole and pickguard, there are shallow capo wear marks on the back of the neck, and minor dings can be found on the guitar’s top and headstock edges. The frets have recently been dressed nicely and play well.
Mahogany back and sides, Sitka-braced Engelmann spruce top, tortoise celluloid bindings and pickguard, ebony bridge and fretboard. Waverly tuning machines, bone nut and saddle, ebony pins. A K&K Pure pickup and strap button have been professionally installed.
Rounded neck carve with 1-11/16” nut and .835” first fret depth. 24-7/8” scale, 2-3/16” string spread at the saddle.
With original hardshell case
