Dell’Arte guitars are hand-crafted by John Kinnard in California. Kinnard has been involved in luthiery for the better part of 40 years, taking the reins of Dell’Arte in 1998. This Dell’Arte branded Slope Shoulder Dreadnought was built in 1999, when Kinnard’s shop was located in Santee, California.
A lovely sounding slope shouldered dreadnought, this Kinnard / Dell’Arte features a Sitka top with scalloped X bracing, mahogany back and sides, two-piece mahogany neck with bound ebony fretboard and an ebony bridge. It’s appointed with simple vintage white bindings, a bound soundhole, multi-ply single ring rosette, and a clear pickguard. The headstock features a pearl logo, Schaller tuning machines, and a uniquely beveled top edge.
The neck has a full-feeling rounded carve and 1-3/4” nut width. First fret depth measures .895”, the scale is 24.75” and string spread at the saddle measures 2-3/16”.
This Dell’Arte is in excellent condition and is without cracks or repairs. New frets and set-up care of our shop, and playability is lovely. We have it strung with 12s and have set the action at 5-7 64ths; there’s ample saddle height for action adjustments. An LR Baggs Element under-saddle pickup has been professionally installed.
A dry mahogany voice with forward mids and excellent touch sensitivity, this Dell’Arte is well suited for fingerstyle and light strumming. It offers a full and balanced sound with overtones in check.
With hardshell case.
